You might be inclined to ask, what’s wrong with potatoes?

While white potatoes are a whole food from nature, they’re part of the nightshade family of vegetables. These vegetables may have some connection between increased intestinal permeability, or leaky gut, and autoimmune conditions like celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. So, many autoimmune warriors choose not to eat them.

Thankfully cauliflower comes through as a great alternative to mashed potatoes.

Cauliflower is high in sulfur compounds that nourishes our cells and our mitochondria, specifically can help our body to naturally eliminate toxins.

This recipe is my favorite way to make cauliflower.

It’s comforting and I love how simple it is to make.

Description:

Mashed cauliflower is one of the comforting side dish that is packed with sulfur-rich compounds to support our natural detoxification. It’s simple, quick and inexpensive… and waiting to appear on your dinner table!

Ingredients

  • 1 Head of cauliflower (Coarsely chopped, florets only)
  • 1 Tbs Ghee
  • Salt (To taste)
  • Pepper (To taste)

Instructions

  1. Place chopped cauliflower florets into a pot with about 1-inch water in a pot. Cover and steam until tender, approximately 10 minutes.
  2. Drain well to eliminate all remaining water.
  3. Add about 1 Tbs ghee, mix with a hand blender or immersion blender until a smooth consistency is achieved. Salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve & enjoy!
